Knock Knock...
Ahh classic jokes, the old ones are always the best. However, I would never describe myself as a comedian. Don’t get me wrong I am not completely void of a funny bone, but when I heard I had been selected to be published in the upcoming “Humor in Craft” book, it made me re-consider my career options, perhaps there would be mileage in stand up after all….
Don’t worry, that was just a little joke (See not funny in the slightest.) Luckily I have not been selected for my ability to tell jokes, instead I have been chosen for the humorous nature of my work. The book will include images of ‘Hug’, ‘Hold’ and ‘Grab’ three of my 2009 degree show pieces.
I am thrilled to have had three images chosen out of, the highly competitive, 2000 that were submitted. I am also slightly relieved that others can see the funny side of my work and me.
I will be sure to keep you posted on the publishing date and local stockists, so you can get your ‘hands’ on it…. Get it? (Sorry I couldn’t resist.)

Here's One I Made Earlier... NOT!
So I’ve recently been trying to smarten things up around here you may have noticed. There’s the new website, the new branding and identity and the new business cards (which I am to in love with to give to people - not a good business growth strategy).
In the event of a presentation however, it has always been the packaging and transporting of my work which I have found to be the greatest challenge. Luckily on this occasion the very talented Lyle McCance for BoardStupid saved the day.
Lyle is a Scottish furniture designer and maker. He has worked with the likes of David Mach, Johanna Basford, Dalziel & Scullian and the prize winning McManus Gallery whilst his passionate eco friendly approach and use of locally sourced or recycled materials make him stand out in the market.
On this occasion I doubt he could contain his excitement when my inspirational starting point were the words ‘simple’ ‘practical’ ‘safe’ and ‘ply wood.’
Here’s the result.
